How we started and why we build fine homes

Love for the Craft

The story of Vista Coastal Builders began with Brian Pollock. Brian’s story began with building throughout Western Canada since the 1970’s.  Brian worked on a multitude of projects throughout the years, ranging from institutional, commercial and his personal passion, high-end custom homes.

In 1995, while working as a Site Supervisor on the Furry Creek Golf & Country Club Clubhouse, Brian developed a relationship with world-renowned architect Brian Hemingway. This marked the beginning of a relationship that has lasted over 30 years and continues to this day. 

Brian began to specialize in high-end custom home construction, working on Brian Hemingway’s residential designs as well as other projects with local architects. Brian was later joined by his eldest son, Tyler, who started work while still in high school to learn about high-end carpentry and joinery.

In 2006, Brian left his partners and went on to build another Brian Hemingway project on his own. His youngest son, Mason, would join him and Tyler on this build. This combination would form the foundation of Vista Pacific Builders, which eventually became Vista Coastal Builders in 2021. When Tyler and Mason were not working with their father, they continued to strengthen their craft while building high-end custom homes in Whistler, Vancouver and Alberta, as their aptitude, skill and energy were quickly sought out.

Later joined by Harrison Gould, Vista Coastal Builders have been building some of the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island’s highest quality homes. Thanks to Brian’s mentorship, we strive to perfectly execute every detail of the architect’s vision while ensuring complete client satisfaction.

At Vista Coastal Builders, we are continuously pursuing advancements within the company to create the best possible product for our clients. Following Brian Pollack’s passing, his vision and passion remain a cornertone in the company’s philosophy, and is expressed through the craftsmanship, professionalism and attention to detail in each project.
