How we started and why we build fine homes
Love for the Craft
The story of Vista Coastal Builders starts with Brian Pollock. Brian has been building throughout Western Canada since the 1970’s. Brian has worked on a multitude of builds over the years, ranging from institutional, commercial and of course, high end custom homes.
In 1995, Brian Pollock was a site supervisor on the Furry Creek Golf & Country Club Clubhouse, designed by world renowned architect Brian Hemingway. This spawned a relationship that has lasted over 30 years and still exists to this day. Brian began to specialize in high end custom home construction, working on Brian Hemingway’s residential designs as well as other local architects. Brian was later joined by his eldest son, Tyler, who was put to work at Brian’s partners shop while still in high school to learn the ins and outs of high-end carpentry and joinery.
In 2006 Brian Pollock left his partners to build another Brian Hemingway project on his own. Tyler and Brian’s youngest son, Mason, would join him on this build. This combination would form the foundation that became what was then Vista Pacific Builders and is now Vista Coastal Builders. When Tyler and Mason were not working for their father, they found work building high-end custom homes in Whistler, Vancouver and Alberta, as their aptitude, skill and energy were quickly sought out.
Throughout the 2000’s and up until today, Brian and his sons (and later joined by Harrison) have been building some of the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island’s highest quality custom homes. They strive to perfectly execute every last detail of the architect’s vision while ensuring total satisfaction for the homeowners.
In 2021, Brian made room at the table for Tyler, Mason and Harrison and Vista Coastal Builders was formed. The four partners are continuously pursuing advancements within the company that will create the best possible product for the architect and homeowners. Brian’s experience and overall knowledge are complimented perfectly by his son’s skills, execution and vision onsite, while being balanced by Harrison’s ability to keep the trains running and bridging the collaborative process between the architect, homeowners, consultants and trades. This partnership ensures a perfect vault over the skill & knowledge gap currently facing the residential construction industry, although Brian isn’t retiring anytime soon. He is doing what he loves.
